Our Services - Sustainable development

At Steelcase Solutions, we care about
the environment in everything we do.

Steelcase, our parent company made a commitment 100 years ago to protect the environment. Steelcase manages the life cycle of its products to reduce the environmental impact they have at each stage of their life through a process called Life Cycle Assessment.

Sustainable procurement commitment

Besides Steelcase products, we also provide products from a number of 3rd party suppliers. To make sure that they are aligned on Steelcase and Steelcase Solutions’ environmental policies, we have evaluated their environmental credentials to create a list of “preferred suppliers” who are environmentally trustworthy.

Furniture re-use and Recycling

The most environmentally friendly process for redundant furniture is re-use.

Through our partnership with the London based charity Green-Works, our customers have access to a nationwide service that offers them the opportunity to re-use their office furniture for the benefit of schools, charities and other community organisations so that nothing goes to landfill.

For products that are not reusable due to their conditions or Health and Safety restraints, they are separated into metal, glass, plastic, cardboard and wood and are recycled accordingly. This separation process into recyclable components is also carried out on all waste generated during furniture installation These are then sent for recycling to our Logistics centre in Waltham Cross.

Any remaining products that cannot be recycled are dealt with in accordance with the Environmental Protection Act – Duty of Care Regulations.
